HubSpot vs Pipedrive: which CRM should a UK small business choose?
Both are good CRMs. They're built for different jobs: Pipedrive is a focused sales pipeline tool; HubSpot is a platform that joins sales, marketing and service. The right choice depends on how your leads arrive and who needs to use the system.
At a glance
| HubSpot | Pipedrive | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Teams that want sales, marketing and service data in one place, and inbound lead flow tracked end to end. | Small, deal-focused sales teams who mainly need a clear pipeline and activity tracking. |
| Entry price | Free CRM for up to 2 users. Sales Hub Starter from $7/seat/month billed annually ($20 monthly). | Lite from £14/seat/month billed annually (£24 monthly), excluding VAT. |
| Mid-tier | Sales Hub Professional $90/seat/month billed annually, plus a one-off $1,500 onboarding fee. | Growth £39 and Premium £59/seat/month billed annually. |

| Ease of use | Easy to start; more to learn as you add hubs and automation. | Very quick to learn — the pipeline view is the product. |
| Marketing | Built in through Marketing Hub (email, forms, landing pages, ads tracking), priced separately. | Lighter; email campaigns and lead capture are available as paid add-ons. |
| Reporting | Strong cross-team reporting, especially at Professional and above. | Good sales reporting; less suited to joining marketing and sales data. |

The real difference: pipeline tool vs platform
Pipedrive is designed around one screen — the deal pipeline — and it does that very well. Salespeople see what to do next, managers see where deals are stuck, and there's little to configure.
HubSpot starts as a CRM but is built to connect marketing, sales and service. If you want to know which campaign produced a deal, or hand a customer from sales to account management with full history, HubSpot does it natively.
What it really costs
Per seat, Pipedrive is usually cheaper for a pure sales team. HubSpot's free and Starter tiers are inexpensive, but the jump to Professional — where most automation and custom reporting live — is significant, and comes with a one-off onboarding fee.
With either CRM, the larger cost is usually setup and adoption: a pipeline that matches how you sell, clean data and a team that actually uses it.
Our view as a HubSpot partner
If you're a small team selling mostly through outbound and referrals, and you don't plan to run marketing from your CRM, Pipedrive is a sensible, low-cost choice.
If inbound marketing matters, you want one system for the whole customer journey, or you expect to grow into automation and reporting, HubSpot is usually the better long-term platform — and starting on the free or Starter tier keeps the early cost low.

Questions
Is HubSpot or Pipedrive cheaper?
For a pure sales team, Pipedrive is usually cheaper per seat (from £14/seat/month billed annually in the UK). HubSpot has a free CRM and a low-cost Starter tier, but Professional is $90/seat/month billed annually plus a $1,500 onboarding fee.
Can I move from Pipedrive to HubSpot later?
Yes. Contacts, companies, deals and notes can be migrated. Planning the pipeline and properties first makes the move much cleaner.
Which is easier to use?
Pipedrive is quicker to learn because it focuses on the pipeline. HubSpot is also easy to start with, but has more to learn as you use more of the platform.
