HubSpot vs Salesforce: which CRM fits a UK B2B company?

Salesforce can be shaped to almost any process, which is why large enterprises use it — but that flexibility costs time, money and admin. HubSpot is quicker to set up and easier to own. For most UK SMEs and mid-sized B2B firms the question is how much complexity you really need.

The trade-off: flexibility vs ownership

Salesforce's strength is that it can model almost anything — complex territories, multi-stage approvals, many business units. The cost of that flexibility is setup time and someone with the skills to maintain it.

HubSpot gives you less raw flexibility but far less to manage. For most growing B2B firms, a CRM that the sales manager can own is worth more than one that can do everything.

What it really costs

Licence prices are only part of the picture. With Salesforce, budget for implementation partners and ongoing admin. With HubSpot, budget for the onboarding fee at Professional and Enterprise, and for the marketing tier if you use it.

Our view as a HubSpot partner

If you have more than a few hundred users, complex processes or an existing Salesforce team, Salesforce is often the right call. For most UK SMEs and mid-sized B2B teams, HubSpot gets you a working, trusted CRM faster, with less to maintain.

Choose HubSpot if…

  • You want to be live in weeks, not months
  • You don't have a dedicated CRM admin
  • Marketing and sales should share one system
  • Your sales process is fairly standard

Choose Salesforce if…

  • You have complex processes or many business units
  • You have (or will hire) a Salesforce admin or partner
  • You need deep customisation or specific integrations
  • You're already a large organisation on Salesforce

Questions

Is HubSpot cheaper than Salesforce?

Usually, once setup and admin are included. On licences alone it depends on the tier: Salesforce Starter Suite is £20/user/month, while HubSpot Sales Hub Professional is $90/seat/month billed annually plus a $1,500 onboarding fee.

Can HubSpot replace Salesforce?

For many SMEs and mid-sized teams, yes. Companies with very complex processes or large Salesforce investments often stay on Salesforce or run both.

How long does a HubSpot implementation take?

For most SMEs, a few weeks: pipeline design, data migration, integrations, automation and training.
